The Smart Energy Council is Australia’s peak renewable energy industry body. Since 1954 we have been working to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future built on smart, renewable energy. For those who want ambitious action, we are bold partners with a proactive, dynamic approach that drives real progress – for the future, the industry and your business.
We are focused on enhancing bilateral opportunities between Australia and Japan, developing new pathways to decarbonise and lead the Asia-Pacific region in the energy transition.
Under the Quad Framework, Australia and Japan are aligned in their commitment to energy security and access, aiming to provide reliable, consistent, and affordable energy. Our relationship with Japan is crucial to the economic prosperity of both nations and the region. We support Japan‘s ambition to decarbonise in alignment with the Paris Agreement and are ready to help the industry navigate these new pathways. We recognise and see Japan as a key partner in Australia’s bid to host COP31.
Our division, Zero Carbon Hydrogen Australia, is the largest renewable hydrogen industry body in the Indo-Pacific region. Australia and Japan share a longstanding and strong relationship with a focus on energy and our shared objective is to accelerate the establishment of an Australian green hydrogen export industry, positioning Australia as Japan‘s preferred supplier. This initiative will foster collaboration across research, technology, and innovation, strengthening ties throughout the entire green hydrogen supply chain.
At the Smart Energy Council we share our knowledge, influence, and voice to stand up for the industry and push for progress towards global decarbonisation. We relentlessly strive to deliver effective energy policies, create jobs, attract investment, and stimulate manufacturing growth and export throughout the region. The Smart Energy Council represents the industry, ensuring our members and their partners are at the forefront of the energy transition.
